Concrete admixtures are natural or Manufactured chemical which are added to the concrete before or during the mix to change its properties with the special requirement.

Why do we use Concrete Admixtures?

We are using admixtures to change concrete properties in various ways with special requirements like upgrading its workability, enhancing its strength and increasing or decreasing its curing time. It is also used to change cement colour also.

Ø  Check job specification

Ø  Use the correct admixture

Ø  Never use one from an unmarked container

Ø  Keep containers closed to avoid accidental contamination

Ø  Add the correct dosage

Ø  Avoid adding ‘a little bit extra’

Ø  Use a dispenser

Ø  Wash thoroughly at the end the day

Ø  Best if added to the mixing water

Ø  Manufacturer’s recommended dosage is usually adequate

Ø  Trial mixes are important to determine most effective dosage
